Infertili-kitty

When there's no baby or child to lavish your maternal instincts on the next best thing is a pet.Our darling grey ball of fur-Molly is your typical aloof, snobby, love you when-I'm-hungry, ignore you when I'm not-cat.
Unfortunately for her all of my pent up, helium pitched, baby cooing is showered upon her whether she likes it or not. As well as extra cuddles, pats, blankets (for when she's cold of course...) and toys for being a good girl.
Big G and I are animal lovers by nature anyway but somehow I feel we've taken it a little too far, we even refer to each other as mum and dad...."Molly go ask dad for your biscuits, go on" Please someone tell me we're not the only ones who do this!!
Instead of a baby album on Facebook, I have a whole album dedicated to my cats. Soon I will be posting status updates such as

"My cat was awake until 3am this morning, will she ever sleep through the night?"

"My cat just puked up a moth on my shirt, sigh, the joys of cat-ownership"

And then on other people's statuses, "enjoy your sleep in because when you have a cat like me you will never have that luxury again"

We would actually LOVE a dog too, but because we're renting it's pretty hard to find a place that will allow it so for now all of our attentions are directed at our little grey kitty, it will be very interesting once a baby is on the scene!

  1. Haha my cat is super spoiled as well but I want a dog sooo bad! The Mr. doesn't think its such a good idea what with him being allergic and all, but I say to hell with it.. I want a puppy!

  2. Ooh Lexi best way to get around that is to give him a puppy as a Christmas present! It's rude not to accept a Christmas present graciously hehe...

  3. You're evil Ants! But great idea! Haha. No, you are not alone on this. We refer to ourselves as mum and dad too when referring to our fur babies. They even have their own Christmas stockings which we hang up every year (and they know it too!) They love digging into the stockings on Christmas morning to see what treats are to be had. Is that a step too far? I'm curious as to how these two are going to react to a baby on the scene in 7 months time as they are sooooo used to being centre of attention!

  4. Nah definitely not a step too far MIW, although we haven't quite done that for our kitty yet...we do get her xmas treats though. I love the little pet stockings you see in the supermarket filled with cat toys, maybe she'll get one this year if I muster up enough xmas shopping energy hmm.

  5. My dogs are my babies. And they leave boogers and snot and sometimes puke all over me. They wake up in the middle of the night. And I can't take them with me when I travel for xmas. So in some ways, they are more work than babies in my mind!

Keep lovin' your kitty. I swear, my pups are what have kept me going through all of this craziness....
